Adaptive Sport and the Unity Sports Centre
Transformation through movement: the journey from rehabilitation to sporting success.
The ‘Sports Space of Unity’ programme is based on cutting-edge methods for the social integration of veterans used in EU countries. We believe that adaptive sport is the quickest way to restore dignity, overcome isolation and improve mental and emotional well-being.
Our core subjects:

Wheelchair basketball

Sitting volleyball

Boccia

Pickleball
Why our programme is unique:
Veteran leadership
The project coordinator is Alexey Vasilyev, a member of the national team for the Invictus Games, who has experienced first-hand the power of adaptive sport following his injury
Psychological resilience
Thanks to sport, we are seeing a noticeable reduction in symptoms of PTSD, anxiety and depression among those in our care
Professional equipment
We are working to provide veterans with specialised sports wheelchairs and professional equipment to ensure they can train safely
Community
The project builds a ‘bridge’ between veterans, their families and specialists, establishing a long-term support system
PROGRAMME OBJECTIVE
Not just training, but preparing veterans to compete in national and international competitions, and helping them regain a sense of control over their own bodies and their future
